Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

For school districts & Intermediate Units

Compliance, IEP and 504 process, and emergency coverage.

What documentation do you provide for procurement and compliance review?

Full licensing, insurance certificates, driver credentialing, and compliance documentation under Pennsylvania Acts 34, 114, 151, 168, and 126, provided up front and kept current for audit at any time.

How do you handle IEP and 504 transportation requirements?

We build each route around the student's plan, including vehicle configuration, attendant support, pickup windows, and any specific accommodations. Drivers and attendants are trained in trauma-informed care and wheelchair securement, and student information is handled under FERPA. When a plan changes, we coordinate directly with your transportation office to update the route.

What happens if our current transportation provider fails mid-year?

This is the situation SCC was built for. In 2021, when COVID disrupted traditional student transportation, SCC redeployed its fleet and dispatch infrastructure to keep students moving. With 224 vehicles and 650+ trained drivers, we can step in with emergency or overflow coverage. [Confirm typical start-up time for emergency coverage.]

Can you work alongside our existing bus fleet rather than replacing it?

Yes. Many partners use SCC for overflow, IEP, and alternative vehicle routes while keeping their existing fleet in place. We fill the gaps so every student is covered.

For Healthcare & Care Coordination

NEMT logistics, discharge transportation, and coordination with your team.

How quickly can NEMT service be arranged for a new patient?

Contact our call center at (888) 311-8340, and our team will confirm scheduling and vehicle needs. [Confirm standard lead time and same-day availability.]

Do you coordinate directly with discharge planners and case managers?

Yes. We work directly with hospital discharge planners and case managers so patients get home or to their next level of care without delays. Patient information is handled under HIPAA.

What accommodations are available for patients with mobility or medical equipment needs?

Our fleet includes wheelchair-accessible vans with wheelchair-first configurations for high-acuity routes. Drivers and attendants are trained in wheelchair securement, passenger assistance, and CPR/AED. [Confirm policies for oxygen, stretchers, and other medical equipment.]

For Government & Procurement

Licensing, insurance, and how to start a conversation early.

What licenses and certifications does SCC currently hold?

SCC is MD PSC and PA PUC licensed and SAM.gov registered. Certifications include NMSDC national MBE, MDOT MBE, PA DBE, PA SDB, and Philadelphia OEO minority business, along with PASS certification and CPR/AED training for our team.

How can we start a conversation early, before a formal process begins?

Call (888) 311-8340 or send a message through our Contact page. There's no need to wait for an RFP. Early conversations help us understand your program's needs and share capability, compliance, and safety information before a need becomes urgent.

Do you operate under cooperative purchasing agreements or vendor pools?

[Needs input from SCC: list any cooperative purchasing agreements, vendor pools, or approved-vendor lists.] SCC currently operates under three active government contracts and is registered on SAM.gov.

For Families & Individuals

How service works day to day, safety, and communication.

How do I know my family member will be safe during transport?

Every driver and attendant completes a 13-module pre-service curriculum, including trauma-informed care, defensive driving, and wheelchair securement, with credentials tracked and renewed on a schedule. Every vehicle is GPS-tracked and AI-camera monitored in real time. Year over year, from June through September 2025, those measures contributed to 53% fewer crash incidents.

Will I be able to track the ride or get updates?

Our dispatch team knows where every ride stands in real time, and our multilingual call center can give you an update in English, Spanish, Arabic, or French. [Confirm whether families receive tracking links or text updates.]

What if our needs change from week to week?

Call our team and we'll adjust. Our routing and dispatch are built for changing schedules, so updates are handled before the next ride.

Do you provide transportation for workers' compensation claimants?
